The purpose is to eliminate permanent stress and structural imbalance in glass products. Glass is a poor conductor of heat. After forming, there is a temperature difference between the inner surface layer and the cooling process. When the inner surface layer solidifies thick, there is temperature difference stress relaxation. This temperature difference occurs when the surface layer cools to room temperature. Internal continuous cooling shrinkage is hindered by surface tensile stress, while surface compressive stress is permanent. The size and distribution of permanent stress produced by partial heat treatment of the product are uneven, which will affect the strength of glass products and even break by itself due to stress concentration. Annealing can eliminate harmful tension inside the glass and prevent new stress. During the annealing process, the glass products are heated or maintained at the annealing temperature after hot forming to relax and eliminate the original stress, and then slowly cooled below the strain temperature. When the glass completely enters the rigid state, the temperature difference between the inner and outer layers will only produce temporary stress. Because some performance and functional glasses (such as optical glass and thermometer glass) are within the transition temperature range, the huge viscosity makes the structural particles move slowly, so that their performance cannot reach the equilibrium state consistent with the temperature, and the balance is slow in the process of use. Performance changes occur, so it must be maintained at annealing temperature for sufficient time
